Power to the People Podcast

With the Power to the People podcast, we tell a hopeful story about our clean energy future. A story that shows that it is possible to transition to renewable sources and that we can put the power back in the hands of the people. We want to show that people who are working on this problem are mostly doing so out of a personal sense of purpose. That new ideas and technologies do not always emerge from a profit incentive but also from the inherent human willingness to improve the world.

We believe that progress comes from authentic conversations and a willingness to challenge assumptions. That’s why we focus on depolarizing the debate (building bridges between generations and political views) rather than making people fall apart. Through inclusive and respectful discussions, we highlight the people driving change, not just for profit but out of purpose and a commitment to improving the world.

• Auke Hoekstra – Founder and director of the NEON research program at TU Eindhoven, focused on accelerating the transition to zero-emission energy and mobility. With expertise in energy systems modeling, he analyzes electric vehicle adoption, renewable energy trends, and decarbonization strategies. Auke is known for debunking misinformation and shaping discussions on Europe’s clean energy future.

• Michiel van Lelyveld – Co-host and mediator. Passionate about knowledge sharing and deep conversations. With six years in renewable energy, including as a modeller and project manager at Zenmo Simulation, he brings valuable insights into the energy transition.
