Grid congestion leads to the inability to connect customers, slowing down economic growth and blocking further sustainability. There is a steep rise of renewables and electrification, and rising customer demands in the power grid. The power grid isn’t ready for these changes at the pace now demanded.

Frank has defined the DNV Congestion & Capacity Mgmt. Framework, which forms the foundation to set the right priorities to tackle congestion management and capacity constraints. Outputs of this framework are being used in many countries to increase transport capacity by building new assets and improving grid utilitisation, to better match load and demand, and to focus on different energy sources. Frank brought standardisation and new digital technologies to the core business processes of European utilities, and Frank enabled aggregators and energy collaborations to gain access to the energy system.
